Match day 8 of the Wm. Cuthbertson Cup saw some big scores right across the board.
Up first was Douglas Reid against Lorna Montgomerie. With five and a half games under his belt in the last three days, big Dougie obviously had his eye in. Twice scoring 4 with the hammer and twice stealing 2, this game ended 12-4 to team Dougie Reid.
Tommy Wilson clearly learnt from last weeks game, scoring more than a single with hammer and restricting the opposition to singles. In his game against Jim Young, Tommy’s rink got on the scoreboard in the 3rd end with a fist full of 5, followed by 2’s in the fifth and seventh ends. A single steal in the eighth sealed a 10-4 win for Team Tommy.
After last week’s backs to the wall comeback, Stuart Smith must have been licking his lips when opposition skip David Mundell and lead Andrew Muir were absent from this game. Taking a 6 at the first end, 3’s in the fourth, sixth and seventh ends, Stuart easily won 15-3.
An upset looked on the cards two ends into the game between John Craig and Malcolm Noble. Leading 4-0, the presidential duo were unable to keep it tight and were 6-4 down after four ends. A further 5 shots were conceded in the sixth allowing Noble to secure an 11-6 win to close the gap at the top of the league.
